This stool is an example of Thomas Pheasant paring down a design to its sculptural essence - and adding back one special motif. That increases the user's ability to focus, and the innate drama of the item is restored. Here, that one special motif is a stylized Wall of Troy design ascending the center pedestal. The saddle top is a Greek reference, chamfered to very thin ends. A plinth base slopes away from the center. The Thassos functions as a bench, an accent, or an end table. It is very sturdy, but most owners could move it around for entertaining. It also works at the end of a bed or, possibly in multiples, as a window seat. It is an imaginative accent for either a traditional or a modern interior.
